Technical Requirements &
Features
Introduction
MedfoNet is a dynamic, internet-based system that provides communications
among members of medical/legal teams engaged in Workers Compensation
case management. MedfoNet is designed to fit into office workflows with
minimal disruption by replicating common forms and tools in a browser-based
presentation. The look and feel of MedfoNet is typically customized to
meet the requirements of individual users.
MedfoNet leverages the low-cost and pervasiveness of internet connectivity,
and provides the mechanism to transact business via a secure 128 bit encrypted
channel. MedfoNet complies with the security practices recommended for
immediate implementation by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability
Act (HIPAA), to ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and availability of
patient information.
Corporate Firewalls
MedfoNet will work through any corporate firewall that allows port 443
Secure Socket Layer (SSL) traffic from https://login.medfonet.com to/from
the desktops. If Internet access is restricted, MedfoNet will have to
be setup as a trusted site to allow access to http://www.medfonet.com
and https://login.medfonet.com.
Internet Browser
The applicable desktops must have Microsoft Windows based Internet Explorer
5.5 or higher web browser with 128 bit Cipher Strength, and the latest
service packs. MedfoNet has the minimum client-side footprint that is
possible: no Applets, Components, etc. will be installed during the use
of the system. However, cookies are used to save minimum data for user
ID, Company Code , etc.
