My work is involved with an exploration of both surface characteristics and the physical, tactile presence of paint, and at times, other materials and how all aspects inter-relate together.

I am constantly playing mediums against and/or with the surfaces I utilize in the painting process.

The imagery is widely varied from painting to painting. Some are executed rapidly with an appreciation and reverence for gesture and spontaneity. Others become quite involved, with a great deal of layering until they reach a point of successful, satisfying resolve.

The paintings, as a whole, seem to have a very photographic quality about them. As if they were a single still shot in a series or a greater number of actions taking place before and after the shutter release is activated.
